Cervicitis in dairy cows is mainly caused by improper operation or long-term and multiple operations during artificial insemination, which hurts the cervix, causing cervicitis and cervical hyperplasia. When the cow is examined with a B-ultrasound machine, a strong echo structure of the cervix can be seen. Its main symptoms are: increased vaginal discharge, grayish-white fibrillar, and even bloody. Prevention and control measures: All artificial insemination utensils must be clean and sterile, and the technicians must be skilled in operation techniques. They must be gentle and fast. For the affected cows, cream is used to flush the cervix once a day, 2-3 ml each time, and it can be cured after more than a week.
When the cow has uterine prolapse, it is mostly caused by a single feed, poor quality, lack of exercise, etc., which leads to loose perineal tissue and inability to fix the uterus. It is more common in elderly cows and multiparous cows. In addition, improper delivery, rapid pulling out of the fetus due to dry birth canal, or heavy objects tied to the exposed end of the placenta can all cause uterine prolapse. Symptoms: When the uterus is partially prolapsed, the prolapse phenomenon is that the uterine horns are turned into the cervix or vagina and intussusception occurs. Only restlessness, straining and similar symptoms can be found through vaginal examination, or the phenomenon of uterine intussusception can be seen through observation with a cow B-ultrasound machine. When the uterus is completely prolapsed, the uterine horns, uterine body and uterine cervix are turned outward outside the vulva and can droop to the tarsal joint.
The prevention of cervicitis in dairy cows is mainly to eliminate the cause. During treatment, corresponding measures should be taken for different symptoms. When the uterus is partially prolapsed, it is only necessary to strengthen care to prevent damage to the prolapsed part, such as fixing its tail to prevent friction on the prolapsed part and reduce the chance of infection; when the uterus is completely prolapsed, a veterinarian should be used for restoration, and after restoration, a cow B-ultrasound machine should be used to check the reduction.
