Animal B-ultrasound guides the operation of dystocia in female dogs

Diagnose dystocia in bitches by using animal B-ultrasound examination. For example, if the posture and position of the fetus in the bitch's body are poorly developed or the maternal pelvis is damaged after birth, resulting in strong and continuous contractions for more than 30 minutes, but no fetus is expelled; if the contractions are weak or absent for 2-3 hours, and the delivery interval exceeds 4 hours, it proves that the dog has dystocia. The specific situation can be diagnosed by animal B-ultrasound.

Treatment of dystocia: Drug treatment: After the birth canal examination, if the cervix has opened, the fetal position has been corrected, and the uterus is weak in contraction, 3-5 units of oxytocin are selected for intramuscular injection. If milk leakage is found after the injection and the fetus still cannot be expelled, animal B-ultrasound examination should be considered for cesarean section. Correction and traction: Abnormal fetal posture, position and direction may cause dystocia. According to the common dystocia fetal positions in clinical practice, there are dorsal position (the head and tail of the fetus are at the base of one uterine horn, and the back of the fetus is at the edge of the uterine body); followed by abdominal position (the head and tail of the fetus are at the base of one uterine horn, and only one or two forelimbs enter the uterine body); and breech position (the fetus is in a sitting position, with the tail first inserted into the birth canal or the two forelimbs extended forward to enter the birth canal at the same time as the head, increasing the area of the birth canal and causing dystocia). At this time, the mother's vagina can be washed with disinfectant (Sanisol solution), and she can stand on the table or delivery bed. The vaginal wall is smeared with lubricating oil, and the assistant turns the tail over. The midwife corrects the fetus through the vagina with the index or middle finger of the right hand, and helps push the fetus through the abdominal wall with the left hand to make the fetus enter the normal fetal position. Then, the fingers are used to pull the fetus with the mother's contractions to make the fetus delivered. If the fetus still cannot be delivered, consider performing a laparotomy as soon as possible. Caesarean section: It is mainly suitable for those who do not respond to drug treatment, have narrow birth canal, the fetus is too large, the head cannot pass through the hard birth canal of the mother, and correction and traction are ineffective. Within 24 hours after the start of contraction, the fetal survival rate can reach more than 80%. After 24 hours, the fetal survival rate gradually decreases. Animal B-ultrasound examination can confirm whether the fetus died in the mother's body. It can also be palpated on both sides of the mother's abdominal wall with both hands, or the fetal heart sound can be auscultated on both sides of the mother's abdominal wall with a stethoscope.
