The role of B-ultrasound in sheep twin induction

2024-09-26 15:16:26 Visits:

In the breeding technology of ewes, the twin induction technology is very important. When performing this technology, it is necessary to check the sheep with B-ultrasound. First of all, the method of supplementary feeding and aphrodisiac in the twin technology: one month before mating, improve the nutritional level of ewes, especially supplement protein feed, which can not only induce estrus of ewes, but also increase the number of ovulations, and induce ewes to produce twins. However, this technology still needs to be carried out under the observation of sheep with B-ultrasound, which will be more accurate.

Hormone treatment: The ewe is first tested for estrus, and PMSG600-1100IU is injected subcutaneously on the 12th or 13th day of the estrus cycle to induce twin ovulation. Due to the differences in breeds and individuals, the response to hormones varies greatly, and it is difficult to find a uniform dose suitable for each sheep. Therefore, the appropriate dosage should be determined after preliminary trials for specific breeds in the local area. This test can be carried out through sheep with B-ultrasound observation. This method is most suitable for breeds that produce single lambs. For breeds that produce twin lambs, it is easy to cause multiple births and high mortality. It is not suitable to use this method. It can be clearly seen on the goat B-ultrasound.

Delivery control: administering certain hormones that initiate delivery to pregnant sheep before the due date can promote early delivery. Progesterone can also be administered to prevent the initiation of the delivery mechanism and delay delivery. The corpus luteum on the ovary can be seen on the goat B-ultrasound. Usually, exogenous hormones such as dexamethasone 10-15mg or flumethasone 2mg are injected within 1 week of the due date. Delivery begins about 36h after injection and ends at 72h. Premature induction of delivery is prone to miscarriage. Estrogen can also cause delivery. For example, intramuscular injection of estradiol benzoate 15-20mg can result in full delivery within about 48h. This method also promotes mammary gland secretion, which is beneficial to lamb development, but it is prone to dystocia.
