Cows usually mate in spring and give birth in winter or early spring of the following year. Therefore, cow obstetric inflammation often occurs in winter or early spring. Obstetric inflammation in cows includes vulvitis, vestibulitis, and vaginitis, which are common diseases in cows after giving birth. Therefore, cows should often use cow B-ultrasound to check the reproductive system after giving birth.

Cows with this disease often show arched backs, raised tails, increased urination, decreased appetite, and depression. Some sick cows have swollen external genitalia, exudates from the vulva, and dry scabs on both sides or around the vulva. When seeing this phenomenon, use cow B-ultrasound to diagnose it and then treat it early.

Prevention and control methods:

① Strengthen the management of cows after giving birth, especially when the placenta is retained after giving birth, special attention should be paid to using cow B-ultrasound to check the condition of the uterus.

② For sick cows, 0.1% potassium permanganate solution or 2% soda water can be used to rinse the vulva. If the vaginal mucosa of the cow is edematous on B-ultrasound, it should be rinsed with 5% warm saline; if there is a lot of serous secretion from the vagina, it can be rinsed with 3% tannic acid or 3% alum water. After rinsing, sulfonamide and boric acid ointments can be applied to the mucosa. Iodine glycerol solution can be applied to the wound surface and ulcer surface.

③ For chronic and relatively stubborn vaginitis, 50 grams of peeled garlic can be mashed, rolled into long strips with gauze and put into the vagina, staying for 2 hours each time, once a day, for 8 consecutive days, the effect is particularly obvious.

Improper feeding and management of pregnant cows in winter is prone to miscarriage. The sign is that mucus flows out of the vagina in the early pregnancy. B-ultrasound for cows should be used to identify whether there is vaginitis. Constantly looking back at the abdominal cavity, restless; in the late pregnancy, the breasts are enlarged, the waist is arched, the urination posture is repeated, the abdominal pain is obvious, and the fetal movement stops. During treatment, 0.5-1 grams of progesterone can be injected intramuscularly once a day for 4-6 days, which can achieve good results.
