Nowadays, people are more and more fond of high-quality meat products. Improving the overall quality and quality safety of meat production is a key factor in the healthy development of animal husbandry. Ultrasonic measurement for cattle has the characteristics of rapid, intuitive, accurate and non-destructive. B-ultrasound for cattle is widely used for reproductive diseases and pregnancy detection of cows. At the same time, B-ultrasound for cattle is used to detect backfat thickness and eye muscle area.


Measurement position of cattle: backfat and psoas are measured about 5cm below the spine behind the twelfth rib. When measuring, put coupling agent on the probe, cut off the hair at the measuring part, and place the probe directly on the body surface. Fat thickness is measured between the twelfth and thirteenth ribs, which can be measured horizontally or vertically. When measuring fat thickness horizontally, select an area that is approximately 3/4 of the length of the psoas muscle. The psoas muscle area is measured between the twelfth and thirteenth ribs in the cross section, and the psoas muscle area is a circumferential measurement.


In order to obtain the cross-sectional image of the positive transverse axis during measurement, the straight plane of the probe must be perpendicular to the dorsal midline and the longitudinal axis, and remember not to cut obliquely. When identifying the ultrasound image, first determine the 3 to 4 strong echo bands produced by the skin interface, interfatty connective tissue and the longissimus dorsi muscle membrane, and then determine the strong echo image of the muscle membrane around the eye muscle to determine the area perimeter of the eye muscle.
